5.1 Plan Scope Management

Process Definition

The process of defining boundaries and constraints as well as defining project goals and objectives and setting down ground rules to adhere to those goals and objectives while putting into place mechanisms to control and account for scope change and making the necessary adjustments necessary to account for new requirements to be reflected in the project management plan. The Scope Management Plan will utilize templates and Microsoft Excel to control and make changes to the project.

 Process Assessment      

Scope Management plan when done correctly accounts for all factors which influence the requirements and market analysis brings in more information in making decisions concerning scope management. Scope defines the controls and constraints to be put in place to eliminate scope creep and control how to change requirements and requests are documented. Scope management plans primary function is to protect stakeholders and project teams from scope creep thus benefiting project and product deliverables to meet stakeholder expectations.

Input  

Project Charter 614:

The procurement plan is a subsidiary plan created in PGMT 614, an input utilized to create and influence the scope management plan. 

5.1.2 

Tools and Techniques

Technical Summary Scope Management 612:

In dealing with international projects it is important to understand and account for all the factors involved in gathering information necessary to properly validate the scope. This technical summary discusses the formation of the scope management plan using tools and techniques. This is a technical summary given in PGMT 612, of the variables to contend with in Scope management.

5.1.3 

Output

Trace ability Matrix 614:

In PGMT 614, for the bicycle project a traceability matrix an output gives a status of progress of the defined approved requirements and possible or pending or issue changes made to the Scope management plan based upon the approval of the change control board. This can include compression of the schedule.
