5.2 Collect Requirements Process Definition

Collect Requirements are the basis of documenting and deciding which requirements meet project objectives. Acting upon these requirements through further refinement provides the means of defining the project and product scope.

 Process Assessment

Project success hinges on active participation and it input from stakeholders in discovery to arrive at defined requirements necessary to meet or exceed the stakeholder’s expectations. Requirements collection documents capabilities and features necessary to make the scope and product scope a viable usable product. Each requirement is decomposed into a work breakdown structure. The work breakdown structure is utilized to create a measurable baseline of scope and it makes it easier to plan, direct and control project processes. Stakeholder involvement continues throughout the life cycle to ensure that the stakeholder’s expectations are met as defined.
