13.1 Identify Stakeholders
Process Definition
Identification of individuals, organizations, and groups who have a stake in the requirements and outcomes. This process takes into account external as well as internal stakeholders who are directly or indirectly involved and have influence or power over the goals and objectives of project requirements. Identification is a key process in managing stakeholder input and outgoing and incoming communications tailored specifically to each stakeholder’s interests or concerns.
Process Assessment Stakeholder identification when done thoroughly identifies each participant’s attitude towards the objectives and goals of a project. Based on stakeholder inputs risk assessment analysis is performed to determine what concerns, milestones, and processes need to be in place to meet or exceed stakeholder expectations. This analysis is vital to a project manager who formulates contingency plans based on stakeholder identification and formulates strategies to ease stakeholder concerns.

The stakeholder register was taken from PGMT 612, and the Burj Khalifa project output used a daily stakeholder register. In the register, we identify who is responsible for their level of involvement, concerns, expectations, and needs. The register is an issue log used to document project issues and assign ownership to project issues in real-time based on the daily stand-up meetings.
